§ Why it matters

Your roof is where the heat goes

Leeds is a city built on brick-and-slate terraces — and it has one of the largest surviving concentrations of back-to-backs anywhere in England. Dense Victorian back-to-back and through terraces fill Harehills, Beeston, Holbeck, Armley and Burley, laid down for the mills and factories, while the long terraced streets of Headingley and Hyde Park are now a sea of student lets. Around them are the 1930s bay-fronted semis of Roundhay, Chapel Allerton, Moortown and Horsforth, the big inter-war and post-war estates of Seacroft, Middleton and Halton, and the stone-built terraces of the outer townships — Pudsey, Farsley and Morley. Leafier Roundhay, Adel and Alwoodley add larger detached homes. A great many of these lofts sit well below today's recommended depth — so the rooms below run cold in winter and stuffy in summer. We work with the quirks of every roof type.

§ Reviews

What Leeds homeowners say

Our back-to-back in Harehills was always freezing upstairs. They topped the loft up to a proper depth and it's made a real difference to how warm the house feels.
Danielle H.Harehills, LS8
No pushy upselling — they recommended a wool top-up and boarded one side for storage. Tidy, fair and done in a day.
Marek R.Chapel Allerton, LS7
Our 1930s semi in Roundhay had thin, settled insulation. They sorted it and the bedrooms hold their heat so much better now.

§ FAQs

Leeds loft insulation, answered

01

How much does loft insulation cost in Leeds?

Topping a Leeds loft up to the recommended 270mm typically starts from around £250, depending on size, access and material. Your free survey gives you a fixed price with no obligation.

02

Can you insulate a back-to-back terrace?

Yes — Leeds has one of the biggest concentrations of back-to-backs in the country, in Harehills, Beeston, Holbeck and Armley. They share walls on three sides but still have a loft above the top floor, and because the walls are solid the roof is usually the cheapest, biggest saving you can make.

03

I've got a 1930s semi — is loft insulation worth it?

Almost always. The inter-war semis of Roundhay, Moortown, Chapel Allerton and Horsforth often have thin or settled insulation well below today's standard — exactly the homes that feel the biggest difference from a top-up.

04

Do you work on student HMOs in the LS6 belt?

Yes. The through-terraces of Headingley, Hyde Park and Burley are largely student lets, and a properly insulated loft keeps tenants warmer and helps the EPC — useful for landlords facing the tightening minimum standards.

05

Will insulating cause damp or condensation?

Not when it's done properly. Poor airflow is what causes loft condensation, so we check ventilation on every job and insulate in a way that lets the roof breathe.

06

Is the quote really free?

Yes — the survey and written quote are free and no-obligation. You only go ahead if you're happy.
